A Massachusetts man has been accused of trafficking methamphetamine in Bangor.
Damian Quinones, 23, of Worcester, Massachusetts, has been charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
Jail records show Quinones also has been charged with attaching false plates and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Officer Michael Blakely stopped a truck driven by Quinones in a business parking area on Main Street about 2 a.m Saturday, McAmbley said Monday.
Blakely stopped Quinones after determining his registration had expired in May 2024 despite stickers on his plates showing a November 2024 expiration, according to McAmbley.
The officer determined that Quinones didn’t have a license and his privilege to drive in Maine was suspended, McAmbley said.
A search of Quinones’ truck turned up a “substantial amount of suspected methamphetamine,” McAmbley said. McAmbley wasn’t able to provide a quantity for the drugs seized, saying in an email to the Bangor Daily News that the department was waiting on lab results.
Quinones remained at the Penobscot County Jail on Monday morning.
